I stopped by the supermarket this morning for a few quick items.. and as I pushed my trolley past a counter which had just been stocked with Ramadan items... I saw dates, nuts, dried figs.. and Qamreddine. Qamreddine... a Ramadan staple, made by my lovely country-men and women... who had plucked the ripe apricots from our beautiful orchards... Pitted them... Mashed them to a pulp... Dried them in the sun.. Packaged them for us and shipped them all over the world.... And my heart burst. Literally. In the middle of the supermarket. Even now as I write this I begin to cry again. Think of us O Muslims when you drink your Qamreddine... My heart is broken and my tears are flowing and no one can help me except God...
