I talk to my female mentees about respecting themselves and their worth. I think many times in our community, women see other women who are successful, beautiful, cool and dope but single. I think seeing so many single women scares some women into thinking they dont have options. In addition to having low self esteem or self image problems. And when women get into this space, we sell ourselves short and allow to be mistreated and disrespected because we dont want to be alone or feel that a man validates us. I couldnt even watch the entire Ray Rice video. I instantly thought about my mentees and the countless conversations about the BUMS they continue to date. For some reason, my conversation doesnt register because they still date these BUMS. I dont get it because they are ROCK STARS and these BUMS are dead weight and TOXIC. Maybe I should show them this video instead! And my final rant of the day is towards the NFL. REALLY, two games! Two games!! And then your official statement is you didnt see the video. I call BS, because you have DEEP pockets. And you had resources to find details about Mike Vick and the dog fighting. So what it comes down to, is domestic violence against women is not important. Well, I find it interesting that marketing to women is important. You know, like Breast Cancer Awareness when women and men purchase your PINK merchandise. Yeah, yeah, yeah, you are spreading awareness ... nothing to do with marketing to a major buying power of women! Let me get this straight, no stance on the Redskins name and the excuse of we didnt see the video!
