I talked to a man today who has just moved 3 weeks ago from GH to US and he lamented how our economy has grown from BAD to WORSE since we left some few years ago and blamed it on the educated folks and politicians. He opined that many of our leaders have lived and schooled abroad, mostly here in the US and Europe, but why is it that when they return home, they dont implement even 10% of the things they saw here to help the country move forward a bit ? He mentioned for example how patients are treated as kings in the US hospitals but in Ghana when you visit a hospital, you have to bribe the record keepers before they go look for your folder and even sometimes our nurses would even be shouting at you during treatment!( but I know my sister nurseAfia Agyeiwaa Donkor is not among :-)) He really said many things which have left me thinking that we need to do more as people and change our attitudes. If we do, we can change many things and put less pressure on foreign countries and even serve as a habitat for others (foreigners) to want to come home and live their lives there even us we always want to live ours in other countries.
