I think I was 18 when I realized that I was not afforded access - TopicsExpress

I think I was 18 when I realized that I was not afforded access even being educated alongside my caucasian counterparts. No one tapped me for opportunities, or scholarships. I didnt get to meet the right people in my town...and I was pretty smart, involved, & in the know, meaning I was the 1-3 Black people some of my buddies knew...we were cool, but I suppose we werent THAT koo unbeknownst to me. I was about 25-28 when I attended the scholarship program that occurs prior to the high school graduation (the Baccalaureate I think), with a friend & heard of ALL THESE Scholarships...started asking kids, howd you hear of that, & they told me about how they were called down to the guidance ofc. or had family who pointed them in the direction of doors I never knew existed...It was no knowledge of the doors that made me have to join the NAACP...I wanted my kids to know about the doors...ya feel me? #MarinateOnThat #DoUhaveACCESS #BlackLivesMatterOnALLfronts
