I think Ive discovered what hell is: finally getting something you always wanted, and being unable to enjoy it. I usually make it a rule to not post negative statuses, but in this case I could use some love and support. Ive always wanted to visit Amsterdam... it was on the bucket list. Unfortunately I have a cold, and much worse, my recurrent hip issues, that Ive had since I was 18, have taken a turn for the worse, so not only can I not walk without excruciating pain, I cant even find a comfortable position to sleep in. Im assuming this is from all the walking, most recently on no sleep, as well as the winter cold. The friend who was supposed to be hosting my son and I for the next five days was unable to do so due to her new husband throwing a fit the night before we were due to arrive and forbidding her to do so. She argued with him until she had a migraine, but couldnt convince him that it wasnt okay to turn out friends who had traveled hundreds of miles and spent hundreds of dollars to be there. This left us scrambling to book cheap hotels and change train tickets and wandering around Dusseldorf with nowhere to be on no sleep. Not to mention racking up credit card debt in hotel and extra travel fees. Ironically the Dutch arent big into pain meds, even though pot is legal. I wish that helped me, but in my experience it only heightens the sensation of pain. And Im down to three ibuprofens. Im going to visit a pharmacist tomorrow, but from what Ive read online the most theyll give me is Tylenol, which wont do crap.
