I think Ive found a new way to celebrate each weeks highlights at West Coast Wednesdays (WCW). Granted, this is going to date me to some people, but so be it. I still find good stuff in the past. That said, I think that I should go old school and pull out a Sledge-o-matic and crush some fruits and vegetables for each person or thing I want to highlight each week. But I must warn you, if youre close, you may need a raincoat or other protection (keep those thoughts clean, kids): youtu.be/KEZeUUv01RQ A smash of the sledge-o-matic this week would go to: - Our fabulous instructor Beverly Solazzo. Two packed classes, Two groups of happy dancers who did praised her class and teaching style. - Our stupendous DJ, April Prince. Three hours of tunes. Older songs. Newer songs. Pop. Blues. R&B. I think the only thing left out may have been Prog Rock (lets not give her any ideas. - The muscle power of our own Hanz and Franz (youtu.be/I5Zk2vUmjpk) in Brian Arvans and Benny Vonmur, who ensured we had sounds, chairs, a floor etc., and that Galway was back to normal (stop snickering) when we left. - The not one, but two--count em two--cakes for Kathleen Randolphs birthday. How much love was in the room for Kathleens birthday? Some people were willing to suspend diets to perform quality control on the cakes to enure their tastiness. - A great coalition of friends from all over the dance community (including peeps who dance in the city, the far south, DC (I think we had a visitor in from DC, Colorado, the western suburbs and more. Thats a great Mix (see what I did there?) of friends who gathered together to dance and celebrate the approaching weekend. But wait, theres more: - One final huge crush of the sledge-o-matic to the community at large. No community. No dance. No community, no friendships (and in some cases more) that have developed over the years. Heres to you: Carmen, Rosa, Joy, Larry, Ken N., Renee, Paul, Diane, Jeff, Allison, Pamela, Candace, Jason, Michael T., Tony, Dee, Anna, Roxanne, Michael M., Ed, Tim, Laura, Lynzi, Belle, Christine, Nadia, Peter, Jes, Diann, Kathy, Tara, Dennis, Lynda, Bridget, Dale, Julie, Judy, Clayton, Scott, Mary Sue, Miles, Layton, Donna, Greg, Shimpei, and the rest of the stellar community.
