I think one of the messages of the cross is sacrifice. Jesus says take up your cross and follow me Well, where did Jesus go with that cross? Did He buy a 10 million dollar mansion? a 49 million dollar jet? I understand there are different views, and you are free to argue if you dont like mine. Just permit me to have my view, as I will permit you to have yours. When I was on Leyte, I was sitting looking out over the sea and I could see the mountains of another island in the distance. I saw the fisherman in the sea, and I thought about the workers in the rice fields. The sun was starting to go down and there was a beautiful light over the bay. I just felt that God did create this world, and He created it for us. I think about what we think about, we think about so many things of this world, and we miss out, and cheat ourselves on a much more awakeness concerning God. I am not using the word deeper about this relationship. I am choosing to use the word awake When we awaken to God, the things of this world become small to us. Jesus is asking us to make the sacrifice. He is asking us to not love the world, but to love the Father.
