I think this article also misses the point, rather than assuming the poem is about finding meaning in arbitrary decisions or is the traditional pop-psychological think outside the box or do the opposite of what others do, i think these are both wrong. Ive always interpreted this poem to mean that life is more interesting when you decide to choose the path that YOU wouldnt normally decide to, and that makes all the difference. But ascribing one right and one wrong interpretation to poetry totally misses the point as well...so, maybe best not to.
