I thought I would give everyone an update on Bruce since it’s been awhile. To begin with, he has the influenza virus. He was feeling kind of rough on Sunday afternoon and then developed a high fever, about 104 on Sunday night. He had chills, a cough and aches and pains. He was pretty rough. He called in on Monday with the intention of seeing both the eye doctor, whom he had an appointment with, and our family doctor. The good news on Monday is that the eye doctor is going to monitor him every three months. The laser surgery is holding although he has lost about 38 per cent of his vision in that one eye. The debate now is whether to do surgery to clean up the scar tissue but the consensus seemed to be to wait for a while. So that is good news and we will continue to pray that the eye continues to heal and hold steady. The family doctor visit was very clear. Bruce has the influenza virus. For those of you, including myself, who think we’ve had the flu let me just say….you will know it when you have it. He was instructed to stay home for the week, in the apartment, quarantined if possible. Luckily all of us, including Justin have had the flu shot this year….Justin additionally has had the pneumonia vaccine as well. So we are fine, although I will say I am more than a little worried. Influenza attacks the respiratory system and of course, it was pneumonia that caused Justin’s issue. So today we went back to the doctor. Although Bruce doesn’t have pneumonia he does have a severe case of asthma. So he’s now on two puffers, still has a fever of about 100-101, still achy and has a bad cough. So now he’s off until next Wednesday. So its been a tough time in the Samler house. But we know the Lord is watching over us so we will be fine. I want to thank everyone who always asks about Bruce. Your thoughts and prayers as so very much appreciated. To all of you out there, please be sure that you take this flu season very seriously. I can’t remember seeing Bruce so ill before and I pray that all of you get through this season with good health and all God’s blessings.
