I thought I would share what my non horse husband posted to my face book page. its just something funny, makes for a good laugh when one needs it.: he is a funny guy, and likes to make people laugh In an effort to clear up several misunderstandings related to horse terminology I thought I would put together some helpful hints: A gelding is a young female horse whos ovaries have been removed. A baby horse is sometimes referred to as a mule. A saddle is part of equipment known as tack and is typically designed to spread the weight of a big butt across the back of a horse. Locks is a slang term for the manner in which you tie a horse to a hitching post. A related term is fetlocks and is generally found in the area of the pastern. A hitching post is also where you married my butt, but that is a different posting. A Dean Martin-gale is a critical piece of tack combined with a liquid beverage, often a bourbon of some type. Horses do have toes; horses may or may not have Camel Toe depending on the season. Floating teeth is a process of preventing a horse from urinating which eats at the enamel of growing teeth. Horse teeth grow for the life of a horse so proper dental hygiene is critical. Calculating how much a horse eats a month is partly based on age, the breed and weight of the horse, and clever math designed to hide the real costs of feeding horses from husbands. Withers--bone structure in the area of the neck/upper back. Mutton withers would be a slang term for where the sheep rides while riding a horse. Nose bands are a trendy, yet passing phase related to horse nose rings. Piercing is often painful. A curry comb is a critical piece of hygiene equipment soaked in Indian spices. If we owned all Falabellas our hay related costs would be cheaper but you would have to sell all your current tack. An over and under quirt is a rope like whip that should be used in some competitions but more often than not is used to whoop your husbands butt. Like most cars, some saddles have fenders. I plan to provide periodic updates as the need arises. NO NEED TO THANK ME--I DO THIS PUBIC SERVICE BECAUSE I LOVE ALL THINGS HORSES. The Horse Whisper-Duhr
