I thought about something that was said to me today at work in - TopicsExpress

I thought about something that was said to me today at work in reference to a huge loss to the CTARNG, family, friends and battle buddies... ... A Co-Workers first response, after myself and another co-worker felt disgust with what the media posted in photos, was actually very harsh and disheartening, lacking any respect to such a new devastation, and without thought. Just flowed naturally right out in to the open air. Lacking respect to those who knew one or both of these NCOs. Tact and diplomacy, holy cow! I thought I use to be terrible at it... Im actually very offended! I rarely get offended! Ive come to learn that expressing my offense to this particular co-worker, wouldnt pan out or be acknowledged anyway, only with a sort of retaliation. It was better to stay quiet! I got home and thought, wow, but after working around this type of mannerism for a bit now, Ive come to realize that some people are just not so right, overall or are very opinionated in their ways, maybe! I really dont know how to label it, nor do I believe I want to. Because only then does it not make myself any better. Either way, Im human, and I do happen to take others feelings into consideration around me in time of loss and grievance. The response was in reference to SGLI not being paid out because it was apparent that seatbelts were not worn... (And the tone in which it was expressed) ... I thought, WOW! (As Im receiving messages from grieving friends and battle buddies of these two awesome NCOs.) And to boot, continues with referencing the situation as an example! An example of what? Another Command Directed PowerPoint? Im in disbelief to what occurred today. What a thing to say after an immediate loss and you wouldnt guess the position held by this co-worker in the current military. I now know, that I must move on from this place, because honestly, I cant be around this any longer than necessary! It truly irritates and angers me the way people of this world have become. And for what? Its totally against the Veterans Organizations I belong to. Its totally against why, no matter my job, I love being with the VA. Its against the books Im working on. Its against my openness and willingness to lift any Veteran up, from any service, component or campaign. It is not the VA way! Not saying its right or wrong, but it is one of my #1 factors for stepping out of the military after 14 years. The lack of compassion, the ignorance, the power trips, the illogical thinking, the suppression, and I could go on, but today a point was made that confirmed my already reeling thoughts. Its not right for me!
