I took Steve to the Nuffield early yesterday for his knee replacement - the second time this knee has been replaced, the pin had come loose & the plastic part had disintegrated & he had been in a lot of pain. He was not looking forward to this & had been putting it off for a long time. The op took four & a half hours and so I was surprised to receive a phone call from himself on his mobile - he cant work phones! He was feeling fine & could I pop up with the daily papers? I arrived at the Nuffield (later) to be told that the celebrity was in room 8 & so he was full of the joys of Spring & chatting up the nurses only interrupted by a seemingly endless stream of nurses popping in to wish him goodnight & promises that they would be back in the morning! I left as me, Bumble & Harry were looking forward to a night without a TV on full volume. Comatose we were woken very early to Quack Quack - Quack Quack (his call sign) just checking we were OK & advising he will be released on Monday - I am regretting buying him this Idiot Proof Dora Phone - he thinks he may be back at work on Tuesday !!!
