I trawled for shrimp ONCE in a friends small non-commercial boat. We dragged a net across the bottom of the Roanoke Sound in N.C.. Never again. The ratio of dead by-catch (fish, crustaceans, etc.) to shrimp was about 10:1 by weight. The sea-floor got heavily scraped-up from dragging the net, damaging marine habitats and scarring the bottom. I can only imagine how much destruction and death the commercial trawlers are responsible for.
