I tried the Sonic Drive-In Hot Fudge milkshake mixed with rye whiskey again this evening. Great combo. Mini size shake and one shot of rye. A wonderful nightcap to the evening. Good thing I got Hot Fudge because I dont think chocolate would have stood up to the rye. Bourbon, as Vincent Vega alluded to, would be a better complement for chocolate. Trevor, I will disagree with you about the Sonic whipped cream though. Its solidity was actually a help in the process. I brought the shake home, used a spoon to pick up the solid whipped cream glob and put it on a plate. Then I poured the shake into a milkshake glass and mixed in the rye. Finally, I scooped up the whipped cream from the plate and put it on top. This process gave it an excellent presentation. Having been an ice cream impresario in three different establishments in Chicago, I strive for an attractive presentation of ice cream and other such sweets. Thats part of the fun of the ice cream experience, as I view it. Foam cups can be used as a desperate measure but the classic milk shake glass is always preferable. youtu.be/A8X2SM0ioJ4
