I use Facebook only because its still the best way to reach my readers. I have no loyalty whatsoever toward them nor any interest in helping them as a business, thanks to the way they treat me and other authors. About a year ago, I got a notice that they did not believe my profile was real, and that it was locked. To get it unlocked, I would have to identify people on my friends list who had been tagged in various pictures. It then proceeded to present me with photos of dogs, the door to a church, a couple of memes, and a stack of boxes in a warehouse. To get my account unlocked, I had to specify which of my nearly 5000 friends these pictures were of. This is no way to form lasting relationships. Im rapidly learning Google Plus, and recommending it to all of my friends and my readers. I use the Google Hangout to keep in touch with my street team, and one of my goals is to do some form of event over there this year, such as a cover reveal or a book release.
