I used to live in the Netherlands during my high school career. I used the bike paths daily but there the bike paths were their own independent street. They were placed on one side of the road one lane for each direction with a concrete barrier separating them from the rest of the city street. Benefits: scooters can pass bicyclists with safety and vehicles can less likely hit cyclists. That would have been a better solution a safer solution. I do believe they must be there for our childrens safety and others. My hypothesis is this is a temporary solution until they rework the streets next and can put something more permanent in place. My suggestion City of Woodstock, Ontario, should contact Maastricht, Netherlands for tips and suggestions We can always use more international friendships.
