I used to think that anger was easier - and that that wasn’t fair. There’s usually no thought or intention to it. We often let negative emotions just take the wheel and drive. Now I’m realizing that the opposite is true. At first it does take effort to pause and reflect. It takes a willingness to see beyond what you THINK is going on.. And the more you do that, the better it feels, inside and out. The more you accept the moment for what it is, accept reality rather than resist (resent) it, the stronger our resilience becomes and the stronger our ability to let go of our knee jerk reactions. The more we loosen our grip on our identity (our plight, our story, our uniqueness) as being separate from another’s, we increase our ability to truly be there, for ourselves, and those around us in peaceful, loving kindness. The ability to think and act gently, with kindness, creates its own ease within, as well as without. Anger then, is the opposite - it creates no ease at all.
