I voted for legislation to give school districts the option to contract for police service to improve school security and reduce emergency response times. Senate Bill 1194 would give public and private school districts in communities covered solely by State Police the option to contract with municipal police from nearby jurisdictions to provide security as well as school resource officers in their schools. School security is a serious concern, and local schools should have every option available to keep children safe. The bill was sent to the House of Representatives for consideration. goo.gl/4uSMds
