I voted yes on the gun bill. Gun owners are going to be better off tomorrow than yesterday. I had extensive discussion with GOAL and MARGO and took input from my constituents. GOAL called this bill a victory for the Second Amendment staying neutral because there are parts concerning schools and mental health, which GOAL did not feel comfortable endorsing. I do not think this bill will reduce gun violence rates. That is not why I voted for it. But the idea that we now have to have licensing authorities now have to say why they are denying someone an FID or LTC. This was a big selling point for me and the constituents I spoke with.
