I want to express my tremendous gratitude to everyone who has participated in my campaign. Thank you to everyone who donated generously, worked tirelessly and who believes and voted. We came up short but the fuse has been lit. We cannot let our country continue to be corrupted to serve only the largest corporations. Americans are taxed to fund the military-industrial complex in constant wars around the world so oil contractors can build pipelines and refineries. The mainstream media no longer pursues investigative reporting and is intimidated by government to publish press releases as news. The average person who gets their news from the local paper and television hears only government propaganda. Our country has been taken from us. Elected officials at every level of government ignore and violate our Constitution. We must demand our inalienable rights. I offered myself as a candidate for Congress because I was born free and want to die free. America is not operating as advertised. I want the promise of America which I enjoyed in the 20th century to survive into the 21st century. The only hope for freedom is for ordinary Americans to involve themselves in our political life. We must encourage principled, freedom-loving citizens to run for office, not as a career, but as a public service. We must educate, encourage and if necessary shame citizens who abdicate their right to vote in every election. It is natural for every person to vote in their best interest. If the young and those beginning their pursuit of the American dream do not vote it is no wonder that those who are elected do not represent their interests. This no longer means looking for a Democrat and voting blindly. I lost because many Democrats did exactly that. They voted for the party without looking at the record of the person. Like America, the Democratic Party is no longer functioning as advertised. Democrat Adam Schiff voted for Monsanto, gives lip service to net neutrality but has not used his position to offer legislation, and voted to give 500 million to involve the U.S. in Iraq & Syria with some of the arms undoubtedly ending up in the hands of members of Al Qaeda. And he supports violations of the 4th amendment with warrantless NSA spying. Democrats went to the polls and voted for Adam Schiff because he is a Democrat. Do Democrats truly support the things Adam Schiff has done? I can no longer be a Democrat. And I cannot be a Republican with their intolerant stance on marriage equality and women’s rights. I am currently registered with no party preference and always will be independent in spirit. As the Presidential primaries for 2016 take shape, I will very likely change my voter registration to vote in the primary for the most progressive candidate whether that choice is a progressive Democrat over a corporate Democrat or a progressive Republican over a lesser choice. I would favor an open primary for presidential elections as we have here in California for other offices. The argument against open primary is pushed by adherents of smaller parties like Green and Libertarian. They would like to see their candidate on the ballot at the general election. But assuming a successful 3rd party candidate was available, that creates the situation where voters are reluctant to vote for the 3rd party candidate for fear that person cannot win and will steal votes from the lesser-of-two-evils, major party candidate who may be marginally more desirable than the other major party candidate. If concerned Americans focus on the primary elections which have lower turnout, 3rd parties and independents can easily get on the ballot and elevate their candidate to a one-on-one runoff in the general election, eliminating the argument that any candidates outside of the two-party system will split the vote. I was fortunate to be in such a runoff general election. There was no Republican. Even still, I needed more time to get my message out. Thats why we must all up our effort and determination. My campaign for 2016 began on November 5th, 2014. Please help by reaching out to indicate if I can count on your vote. And please encourage American to participate in political discourse, to contribute to individual candidates not to Political Action Committees, to vote, and to run for office. Please consider whether you or someone you know may be able to run to help restore freedom in America. I am calling on all freedom loving Americans, whether ordinary citizens, candidates or incumbents to “Come-Out Independent”. Leave the Democrats and Republicans who through greed and a desire to maintain incumbency have forsaken our American principals and have succeeded in degrading our democracy. State your independence and reregister today to vote with no party preference. We must encourage an independent wave of candidates including a presidential candidate for 2016 to run to end Citizens United, institute campaign finance reform, and restore our right of privacy under the 4th Amendment and the vibrancy of a free press. Our general sense of malaise and the resulting poor economy is because our democracy is dead. The vitality, creativity and enterprise of a free people have been silenced. But even though our leaders are not on our side the laws are. Just as in the case of our national debt, WE MUST ACT NOW. The longer we wait the less likely that we can succeed in returning our country to a vibrant, world-leading democracy and stop the fall of America. Make today the day we determine that we will pay any price, bear any burden and meet any hardship, to assure the survival and the success of liberty.
