I want to know what the hell ANYONE is celebrating this 4th of July. Everything that the revolution was about is not only gone -- its forgotten. We have turned our children over to the state for their education. We have surrendered our freedom to move about freely to licensure and the TSA. We have surrendered our privacy to the NSA in the name of safety, and our presumption of innocence to the proliferation of SWAT teams with their equipment, thoughtfully provided by those who have made it their mission to stomp out any and all deviant behavior in the name of the EPA and the DEA. We have a judiciary that understands which hand feeds it (why dont we?). We have betrayed (just as many of them did before their deaths) everything that was once gained. There is nothing to celebrate, only things to endure until one side or the other discovers its balls. Our friends are in cages for infractions of laws with no purpose other than the assertion of authority while criminals disguised as corporations move us around like pieces on the Risk board and suffer no consequences for the resultant death and destruction. If youre celebrating youve missed the point. Happy 4th.
