I want to lift up what the young brother, Marcelo Garzo, said today during his presentation on youth programs at Pie Ranch as their new manager. He explained that the work they do to connect youth of color with the land is an effort to help them re-member. To re-member, he says, means 3 things. 1) To recall through blood memory that which they already know, that which we all know as human beings, which is how to provide food for ourselves and live off the land. 2) To become whole again through healing the compounded trauma that all youth of color experience to varying degrees. 3) To re-establish sacred relationship to Mother Earth and all Creation, becoming a member once again to the web of life
