I want to post a warning to friends and family to beware of the drug Avelox and others in the same family such as Cipro XR, Proquin XR, Factive, Levaquin, Noroxin and Floxin. Avelox is a powerful antibiotic with many listed side effects. Go to WebMD for more information. There is an FDA alert. What I can tell you is that my dear husband has taken two Avelox pills. Last fall the first one pill sent him to the emergency room with tingling, itching and swelling. He did not associate the reaction with this drug because there was a significant time lapse and since he is allergic to several chemicals he thought a chemical was the cause. He took one pill on Feb 23 and within minutes he was unconscious and I had to call 911. He went into heart, lung and Kidney failure. We thank God that he survived this frightening ordeal with no permanent injury. Please read the warnings on any medication before taking, especially this one. A reaction can be fatal.
