I want to respond to a totally false accusation that was made by a member of the HIV/AIDS service community in Louisville. The person told a reader that we always require them to pay for publicity for their events. This is a TOTAL LIE. We always are happy to publicize events for all non-profit organizations for FREE. If they want ad space we charge for ads...we give non-profits up to a 50% discount off of our regular ad prices. The reality is that these organizations are too disorganized to 1) get out the word to the community 4 - 6 weeks in advance so the information about their event would have wide distribution (and thus be more effective) and 2) they dont believe in sending out press releases so the information can be publicized. Less than 2 weeks before the World AIDS Day service in Louisville the word is put out on Facebook. Wow. Yet in my hometown of Terre Haute I was sent the information about their World AIDS Day service almost one month ago...and began promoting it when we were notified.
