Thursday at 7:28am · Dealing with a ridiculous anti-King James Bible site There is a woman named Sharl who has posted a short video on You tube that is titled “KJV Onlyism Refuted”. You can see it here if you wish. youtube/watch?v=- zC1cnCw42M&feature=youtu.be This lady piously posts “The Word of the Lord is perfect”, and yet if you ask her where we can get a copy of this perfect word of God she apparently wants us to think she actually believes in, she is totally unable to show us what it looks like. She goes through a rather short list of what she thinks are errors, mistranslations and “offensive” words in the King James Bible. Among the words this Bible correcting wannabe scholaress disapproves of are the words “baptism”, which she thinks should be “immerse” and “whore”, which she finds offensive. In spite of all her undoubtedly thorough and exhaustive research, the fact apparently has not crossed her mind that not only does the King James Bible correctly say “baptize” but so too do the NIV, NASB, ESV, NKJV and just about every Bible version ever printed. But this doesn’t stop her from criticizing the word. She also is blithely oblivious or unconcerned about the fact that the word “whore” also occurs in her beloved ESV 2001-2011 some 34 times and it is also found in the Geneva Bible, Darby, Youngs, the NRSV and numerous other English Bibles both old and modern. She also disapproves of the word “bastard” even though it is exactly what both the Hebrew and Greek word means in the verses it is found in, and the word is also found in such versions as the Geneva bible, the Revised Version, the ASV, RSV, Darby, J.P. Green’s literal, the Emphasized bible, Lamsa’s translation of the Syriac, Youngs, the Updated Bible Version 2004 and the Message of 2002.
