I want to shed some light on accidents on our roads Kenya has the best road network in East and Central Africa and as such accidents should be forgone story but nop it is a disease that is there to stay with us.At first it was blamed on poor road conditions and now it is on overspeeding. What is overspeeding...To my understanding overspeeding is exceeding stipulated manufacturer speed limit of a vehicle.Buses speedometers gauges range from 120km/hr-160km/hr.Which means a bus that has a speedometer gauge at 160km/hr can do it at 160km/hr and the vehicle still remain stable given all conditions remain constant.Ask the engineers who manufacture/assemble vehicles will explain to you this. Road accidents are not caused by vehicles exceeding 80km/hr as Kenya percieve it.A road accident can occur at any speed even at 10km/hr.How many cars get accidents in Nairobi daily and in jam which they drive at 5km/hr Here the reasons for accidents 1.Love for money and negligence:Most PSV vehicles are not seviced for quite along time. Some goes as long as 6months without service. How sure are you that the vehicle is in good condition to go even more than 40km/hr without causing an accident. The worn out hadraulic system is dangerous. Each day a vehicle operates the hydraulic system wares out.If not seviced as often as possible it will cause a disaster 2.Incompetence drivers and untrained drivers..Kenyans really like short cuts. You get a vehicle today practice it few days and there we go you are a driver. What the hell. You bribe everybody to get a driving license.Hey what you are doing is not correct.Go to a driving school and train well. This people are usually cheap to pay,and as you know Kenyans want cheap things so without looking at the qualifications the owners of the vehicle will hire this incompetent guy. What will happen only God knows. Irrespectful drivers:You are suppose to respect and value your work. Most drivers drink and drive. No employer will allow a drunk employee in his/her office why drivers exceptional. That vehicle is their office. It doesnt matter what you do.Your work place is your office and you should respect it.A fatigued driver too is alo an irrespectful person.Driving needs alot of concentration. You find a driver doing 400kms at night or day.The same driver wants to do the return journey.Driving is not a bed of roses,it is working and the result of working is exhausttion.Dude why dont you respect yourself and hand over that vehicle to another person. Why the tick life...You stick untill death. 4.Rogue police...Taking bribes everytime, anywhere every vehicle. No inspection,No alcoblow exam,no nothing no nothing money, money ,money Mechanics..They also dont respect their work.Doing showdy work just to make that quick cash.Remember that one nut that is not properly tighten will claim so many lives even if the vehicle is at 50km/hr.They fix worn out spare parts because they wnt more cash, more cash Passengers..Wooow am one of them...Never mind safaty. We dont put on our seat belts,a vehicle is full and there you are scrambling for that middle space in the vehicle.Gosh think think think. mY ANALYSIS SHOWS THAT TO STOP ACCIDENTS EVERYBODY MUST BE READY TO HELP.if we have all things in check, all roads are in the right condition then we can drive at 150km/hr without accidents.Yes thats the truth
