I want to tell you about an exciting opportunity… I am honored to be working with a Wesleyan Pastor in Haiti named Jacques Meance to accomplish the building of church in LaFond Haiti! As a child, Pastor Jacques grew up in the small mountain village of LaFond. He now lives in Petit Goave, a larger town at the base of the mountain on which LaFond is situated. In 2010 an earthquake hit Haiti and brought with it so much destruction. Pastor Jacques was a first responder to his people. Through it all he felt the leading of the Holy Spirit that it was time to Plant a Church in the village where he grew up. Here are his words: The vision to work for the Lord in the Lafond Area came to me more than 12 years ago as I was born there and received a call from the Lord to do so. However the time to start working for the Lord in LaFond did not come until right after the terrible earthquake that shook Haiti on January 2010. I decided to start under a big tent but that was destroyed by a storm. After this I put a roof on my little house and we have been holding worship and prayer service in it ever since. This past November I had the privilege to marry one of the leaders from our church and his wife. However we had to hold the service outside in front of the Lafond School because we couldn’t fit everyone in the house because we had a crowd of more than 300 hundred people. At present, we have already had more than 80 people attending church in the little house that I am building for my family, more than half of them are youth and children from five to fifteen. Jacques is currently an assistant pastor at a Wesleyan church in Petit Goave, but travels an hour on his motor cycle up 16 miles to LaFond to bring the good news of Jesus Christ to this small community. It is our belief that the local church is the most fundamental and strategic point of evangelism, discipleship and outreach. Through the Lafond church, we desire to implement sustainable projects such as: Sponsorship program for the needy kids through Reach Out and Lafond School, sanitation projects, and agriculture projects such as planting trees to replenish the land and more. My church has donated $1000 towards this project. I am looking for other churches who would match our donation! We would only need 40 churches to reach the $40k! SO! I am asking you would you consider asking your church to match mine? We could do an “ice bucket challenge” type event…. Like I challenge your church to hold service outside in December or take up an offering for the church build! What do you say? Will you come along side me? Together we can build this church! If you dont feel you can ask your church but would like to go give to this project you can go to gofundme/gas9w0 IF your church would like to match our gift, they can send a donation to my church Faith Wesleyan Church 654 S Meridian Midland MI 48640.
