“I want to work on an actual product people want to use” -- good start! How about to work on an actual product (or idea) people SHOULD use. Or even better: SHOULDNT use? If I look out of my window in smoggy Beijing, and see the news about global warming I can think of a couple of things to start with. How about subsidizing ad-agencies that make campaigns for something that we actually REALLY need instead of having them sell more useless crap? If there would be money for creative people to actually do something positive, we really would unleash some crazy potential. In this way a good ad agency would be defined not as a an agency that can create a creative campaign to sell crap, but a creative campaign that creates real value for the people. The hope dies last.
