I want you all to harken way, way, way back to the days when your grandparents were but a wee twinkle in your great grandpappies eye, all the way back to 1899. Thats when UVMs world renowned Lawrence Debate Union was formed. Whats that you say, whats the LDU? Well Ill tell you! The LDU is a regionally, nationally, and internationally competitive team of student debaters (just like you) who engage in stimulating debate that helps to promote awareness of global issues, sharpen your mind, allow you to hone your skills of persuasion, and maybe if youre lucky send you to some really, really awesome places around the country and around the world. But I know, you have so many options, youre looking to reinvent yourself after high school after all, start anew in the blossoming utopia of Burlington, so why should you join the debate team of all things? Well let me tell you. The LDU is one of the top five highest ranked debate teams in the country (right after Yale, Harvard, and Cornell), one of the top twenty teams in the entire world, and one of the most successful extracurricular organizations at the University of Vermont. We have three coaches who are only here to teach you how to debate, who are all incredibly awesome, supportive, and helpful people, and who can help make your college experience that much more awesome. Not to mention that all that arguing makes class assignments that much easier...
