I wanted to share something near and dear to me. This is not a plee to increase my client base. As an animal lover, and defender I think pet owners should know more about a very necessary part of pet ownership. This is in no way meant to make people leave groomers to come to me. Its for your information and to help you with finding a groomer should you need one. Did you know? Groomers in Oklahoma are not licenced or governed in any manor. Anyone can pick up a pair of very sharp scissors and call themselves a groomer. This puts your furbaby at risk for not just a bad hair cut, but infection, infestation. And worst of all Possible Injury. Groomers are not required to have insurance in Oklahoma. Being bonded is not a substitute. You do not have to attend a single class, school or certification in Oklahoma to become a groomer, even though the very nature of the work is highly skilled when done properly. True groomers are educated professionals. We know breed standards, total coat and skin care, first aid, cpr, disease transmission, disease processes, canine, feline, lupine and other animals behaviors. We work to be the best. We real groomers are passionate about not only our work, styles and craft, we are passionate about animal welfarej. It makes no difference the pedigree, or lack of. We love our life....our job. We strive to keep your pet in top form, and many times find signs of potentially harmful diseases that need a vet check. I love your pet like my own, seeing them healthy and happy is paramount. So please, dont be afraid to ask your groomer questions. Be informed for your comfort, your pets comfort, safety and style. Its my job to be the best I can for them...I cant be any less, I must be so you dont have to worry about the care your baby is getting in my arms. But sadly not every groomer operates with ethics, responsibly, and safety in mind. Not many take on the expense of showing, competition grooming, continuing education, and the study of new trends and new healthy and safety info. There are a few things to think about when looking for a groomer. Be it for a new puppy, an old buddy, or a move to a new town. Is your groomer certified in CPR and first aid? Things happen... Even earthquakes in Oklahoma. Dogs can have undiagnosed seizures.... Will your groomer know what to do? Does your groomer say up on current information? Infection control isnt just for humans. Plus that new ASIAN style would look so cute on Tuffy!! Does your pet get taken out to potty in a secure area, given fresh water or given food if a pet at risk for low blood sugar? This extra step of water and potty breaks is very important for puppies, diabetic dogs, those with CHF, and eldery dogs. Does your groomer have a disaster plan? Tornados, fires and more can never really be predicted with 100% accuracy.rf However having a plan saves lives, human and our glorious animals to... Never be afraid to ask questions...☺ ................................................ My hope is this has helped those that have had questions and didnt know how, or who to ask. Have a great night and kiss that furbaby!!
