I wanted to wait a few days before I posted anything regarding the shooting of the young lady in Baltimore and the slaying of the officers in NY. I am not easily moved by popular opinion or mass appeal. My foundation is and will forever be humanity first, followed by peace, justice and harmony. I am equally disgusted by this senseless act of violence and offer my sincere condolences to all the families involved as I continue to do so for the families still mourning the lost of life for their loved ones all over this nation. Im sure I represent the majority of African-Americans who would NEVER condone or give countenance to the ideology of targeting random cops for retribution for the reprehensible behavior of some who do a disservice to such an honorable profession. To appropriate this way of thinking contradicts the core of our values and humanity. Since this Horrific act of violence Many have used the media and social media irresponsibly to widen the racial divide, which has the propensity to put more innocent lives in danger. My ask is that the massive ( of all races) use discernment when fact gathering and see the media for what it really is...a tool to deceive and to inculcate certain agendas rather than a platform to inform, educate and empower. The guy who shot the young lady in Baltimore and assassinated those officers in NY alienated himself from his own humanity. Obvious his mental state was unstable and responsible for him devaluing the life of ALL 3 of his victims including his own. Despite the accounts of his social media rants his senseless acts of violence had nothing to do with revenge for Eric Graner or Michael Brown. Thats evident by the selection of his first victim. What did his girlfriend have to do with Graner or Brown? The PBA head Patrick Lynch should be using this time to build bridges between his officers and the communities they serve instead of fostering fear, pointing fingers and blaming peaceful protest as the catalyst for this cowards action on Saturday. I dont agree with Al Sharpton on every level, but hes no more responsible for this senseless act of violence any more than anyone reading this post is. Some have called for a moratorium or for groups to curtail their peaceful efforts to challenge injustice as a result of this tragedy; I say its our duty, right and obligation to continue. I have many friends and recent acquaintances who are in law enforcement, who serve their communities with pride, honor and integrity. We all have a duty and obligation to make sure they go home safely to their families every night! Just as we have a duty and obligation to make sure every law abiding citizen has the right to breath! We need more healing as a nation now than ever before! No one has a monopoly on humanity....ALL Life Matters!!!
