I was 22 at the time, married a little over a year and our first child on the way, when the call came to enter rookie school with the fire department…the thought of running into a burning building scared the…well let’s just say I had a fear of it…this week we devote ourselves to “follow the way of wisdom” and as I dealt with the fear of entering a burning building, I thought that I would seek some wisdom from someone who did that for a living…I remember the conversation well… “ hey dad, what’s it like to go into a burning building…do you get afraid” – his reply was one I will never forget…he said “ I have a healthy fear of fire, not a fear like being afraid, but one of respect!” –there is a difference between the fear that keeps us from doing something and the healthy fear that offers a safety in doing it…when it comes to gaining wisdom, especially in the things of God, a healthy fear, or respect is the beginning of knowledge…seeking God and His Wisdom (reading His Word) will help us gain insight into facing those things that can “scare” us in life… seeking wisdom from those who have gone the path before us, is a great place to start…so let’s start with the source of wisdom each day by reading God’s Word…peace, tom The Source of Wisdom Theme of the week: Follow the Way of Wisdom Monday, June 24, 2013 christianitytoday/moi/
