I was actually proud of the UT students for staging a protest and exercising their right to peaceful assembly. Its good to see UT in the news for something other than butt chugging, rape, or raising tuition. I support the right to free speech and was glad to see them attempting to raise awareness for a cause. I will not comment on whether I support or am against their cause, that is of no importance. However..... I do feel they crossed the line when they impeded traffic and affected the livelihood and rights of others by blocking traffic and causing a hazard. One person (police cadet) was actually injured due to their irresponsibility. Next time you want to express your beliefs or raise awareness, do it properly. Apply for your permits and conduct them in a park or commons area on campus. Keep it non violent and respect others if you are wanting them to respect you. Now go study for finals.
