I was asked today by John Young Any tips for cutting? Heres what Ive found works for me... In very simple terms eat less, move more. But for a bit more of a useful response, try these 5 SUGGESTIONS FOR EFFECTIVE FAT LOSS. These are things that have worked well for me. 1. Dont drop your calories to fast. Or create a huge caloric deficit by increasing your cardio dramatically. This will just mess with your hormones and shut down your fat burning ability. Instead, drop your calories and/or up your cardio slowly and track your results. Make adjustments as necessary to keep on track. 2. Avoid fats and carbs together. Carbs will create a spike in insulin which is your bodys hormone switch for storage. Storage of anything, anywhere. Which includes fat in to fat cells. So eating fats when you eat carbs will see those fats stored and not utilised. 3. Schedule your meals around your training. Get your carbs in 2-3hrs before you hit the gym to fuel your workout. Any closer will result in higher levels of cortisol during your workout which can limit effective protein synthesis. Get carbs in post workout to replenish what youve used and allow any protein you consume to be used primarily for repairing muscle and building new muscle. At all other times, stick to protein, heathly fats and fibrous vegetables. 4. Drink around 500ml to 1 litre of water when you wake up. This will activate your gut and help process food and absorb nutrients more efficiently. It will also rehydrate you, including your connective tissue and spinal discs. Which is very important if you workout early in the morning. Add some lemon juice for a fat burning boost too. 5. Short intense burst of strenuous activity are more effective at burning fat than long, steady state, traditional cardio. This is due to the bodys hormonal response. Tabata style workouts are very effective. Have a look at Turbulence Training too, they specialise in this type of short, fat burning workout. Traditional cardio still has its place for cardiovascular health general well being. So dont cut it out altogether. Hope that helps. Train hard N Train smart (TNT training) 😃💪👍
