I was born and grew up in a house on King Street, Gelli. Number - TopicsExpress

I was born and grew up in a house on King Street, Gelli. Number 49, right next door to the last/first house in New King Street. Although Nan & Grandshir only had a fairly small family, the house was a four bedroom. The main bedroom had two windows and was right across the front of the house. There were two bedrooms overlooking the back garden and the coal & toilet shed. Then at the end of the corridor there were a few steps that lead to the fourth bedroom that actually overlooked our next door neighbours back garden. It was actually in next door! I wonder how common this was? Are there still places like this? I am sure that the house was originally a council house and so there was no problem as they were basically rentals. How did they get around this when these houses were actually sold. The fourth bedroom would be technically part of next door even though the access was through another property. Thats the land that it sits on. Any one know, or was Nans house unique?
