I was challenged to freestyle to an entire song Ive never heard WITHOUT any poles. Remember, I have no dance background, I never really listen to music, and Im extremely uncomfortable with emoting while moving rather than just being athletic. But, I wanted to explore another side of myself. So I gave it a shot. It felt awkward and pretentious, but I just kept moving. I got through it. ...I forgot about it for several months, too embarrassed to even watch it, but yesterday, I dug it up and showed it to Nadia Sharif; her positivity (despite my numerous technical errors) was overwhelming. Watching it again, I realized that the experience had made me grow so much. I hope this serves as encouragement to share your movement journey. Everyone has the natural ability to express. So, even if not publicly, do share with one or two people who you know love and care about you. Its worth it, I promise. Thank you, Marlo Fisken, for challenging me to do this.
