I was going through marriage article about certain things people do and why its wrong Islamically and a common thing we see amongst muslim women when they are married is that they change their surname, to their husbands surname, which is usually the husbands father name. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Allaah has cursed the one who claims to belong to someone other than his father.” [Reported by Imaam Ahmad and others] Abu Dharr (may Allaah be pleased with him) heard the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) say: “Any man who knowingly attributes himself to someone other than his father is guilty of kufr. Whoever claims to belong to a people when he has nothing to do with them, let him take his place in Hell.” [Bukhari, Muslim] (“when he has nothing to do with them” means, when he has no lineage among them, as is highlighted in some reports.) With all that said, if she got divorced, what would happen with her surname, or if she married again, would she change it again.. it would just be confusing like inception lol
