I was honored to spend a few wonderfully enjoyable hours today with Manfred Mohr as he was in town for a show opening at VT Center For the Arts! Having started with 3D cube animations in 1971 he has been exploring 2D projections of higher dimensional cube rotations with great effect; ambiguous forms, symbol-seeming and suggesting some higher connectedness or order just out of perception... rotations and parameters are seeded with timestamped randomness, so in our lifetime, every moment and view is unique. A fun nugget as he recollected his home collection of original punch cards: Algorithms are like art, they are a product of their time and their author. You would not code it the same way yesterday or tomorrow or a hundred years from now... I wondered if I agreed. We wrapped the day with some more fun in the Visionarium VisCube philosophizing on dimensional reduction, 3D projection and human pattern recognition!!! :-) vimeo/album/1644066
