I was in the 48FIS from June 1979-1984 .I was In the T-33 section when I got there as a SRA. Worked with some great people. Paul Johns, Dave Flateau, Danny Short, John Dunn, Jim Chrysler ,and others I cant remember. Msgt Vanderpool was the flight chief. Then moved to the F- 106 till the 48th got the F-15. These were trying days back then, had about 90 people lose there security clearance . We had maintenance troops from all over the US helping us maintain the 106,s. I still remember a Smsgt Jacobs,and a CMSGT driving the expediter truck. Thats how short handed we were, but in true 48th fashion we all worked together and got the jets in the air. Worked with a super hydraulics troop named TSgt Denny Bama Grisham, a some great crew chiefs , like Mike Gaston. I think he had to get out was getting married to our Maintenance Officer at the time.I was on the 1982 William Tell team with the F15A. We had a great team Dusty Millar, Gary Beecham ,Lou Gentile,and Corky Phillyaw. We were voted best F15 maintenance team for this competition and our pilots took Top Gun honors. Remember the jets were spotless. Great time was had by all. Eye of the Tiger! Whoever was there will know what Im talking about
