I was looking forward to: Looking at the Union Jack without the blue background; Filling in forms and not having to click UK/British under nationality; Getting a Scottish passport; Not getting upset when people say the UK when they really mean England; Calling David Cameron Their Prime Minister rather than The Prime Minister; Flying into Glasgow International, Scotland, not UK; Watching the Olympics and not having to hunt the internet to find the Scottish athletes to support; Never hearing God Save the Queen when a Scottish sports person has won; Never being asked to sing God Save the Queen as were all British here; Getting rid of age old biases as I no longer needed them; Enjoying a friendly neighbourly relationship with England; Not being condescended to by the British Embassy because Im Scottish; Seeing the smiles of my family as they look to a better, independent future which they (mostly I think) voted for; Walking around thinking Im from an independent country; Seeing what a better society a new Scotland can create as an independent country; Things Im proud of: The massive turn out of voters; The grass roots organisation that has resulted in changes in politics forever; My family and friends who had the guts to vote Yes and have an exciting vision for the future; The Yes campaign who did so well despite against the institution that is Westminister; The SNP who worked hard to put this on the table and have shown that Scotland is a nation with a voice and that has cards to take to the table; The Proclaimers (whats not to love); Martin Compston (from Greenock) and Andy Murray (we always knew you were a Yes supporter).
