I was not intending to stir up negativity towards the televangelists or even the christian tv networks, per se. They are answerable to God for the message they preach (or lack of it) and what they do with the call of God on their lives. But I was pointing a flashlight and identifying a current problem. An equally considerable problem, as it see it, is the lack of discernment or desire for personal discovery of truth on a large part of the Body of Christ who listen to messages ad nauseam and support big tv ministries, without question. Its an epidemic. I am equally concerned for the modern believer who thinks they can just sit home week after week watching a service via the internet, calling it church (term traditionally used for congregating). If youre a shut-in, disabled without transportation, or sick for a season - please, have at it. Everyone else, dont be deceived. A Body has cells that rub each other continually and adjust to working together for the benefit of the whole. I do not sit as judge and jury of our brothers and sisters in the Lord. Only God can judge their heart, their quest for more of Him, their revelation of scripture, their application and their thirst for truth. But scripture lauded the Bereans for proving out what they heard from Paul through personal study. Exegesis and hermeneutics are still quite valid, especially among spirit-filled believers. We need change, we need it big time and we need it now! Teach us Holy Spirit.......teach and guide us all!
