I was outside enjoying the wonderful sunshine and basically minding my own business when I noticed a young fellow with a fancy video camera and tripod setting up his gear in front of my house. Curious, I asked what was up and he said that he and his crew were here to cover the fracking debate and election for a network. Apparently he saw my Vote for the Fracking Ban sign in my yard and asked if I minded making a few comments on camera. Given my shy and retiring nature, it took me about a nano-second to say yes. I quickly brushed my hair, sucked in my gut, grabbed the Mrs. and dutifully answered their questions. Further they asked us to walk down the sidewalk a way and walk back, hand in hand while they filmed. We were a regular Ozzie & Harriet. As they were getting ready to depart, I asked what network they were with; Denton Public Access? NBC? or perhaps CBS!?! They said no, they were with RT Network. Have you heard of us? I shook my head no while I tried to disguise my disappointment. They were such nice kids. I said no but didnt press further thinking this must be Rural Texas network or some other obscurity. We shook hands with the crew and I went inside to Google RT to see if maybe I could send a small donation or something. Well, comrades, you can imagine my surprise when I discovered RT means Russian Television!! What!?! Russia is interested in Dentons fracking ban? Why? Did yours truly just blunder into a Putin plot? Whatever the reason, our little fracking referendum is making world news. RT, as it turns out, is Russias CNN.
