I was partially blind due to cataract of both eyes, but the right - TopicsExpress

I was partially blind due to cataract of both eyes, but the right eye was more severe, it was diagnosed as senile mature cataract. I got the lens so deteriorated and much earlier as explained to me, due to my diabetes. We will get this condition as we age. Mine came ahead though. Finally, I decided enough of the cloudy vision and the difficulty in night driving forced me to yield to my long-standing doctors order: get a new lens, for the right eye first at least. Last Monday, with my Sweety, Amie Caluya-Geronimo, as moral booster and caregiver (she is like a jail warden, tough!), I underwent the procedure at the UST Hospital. Its been several days since. I still feel a sting where the surgery was done. I get eye drops every 3 hours. I wear this safety glasses. I am told to limit crowded places to prevent infection. No heavy lifting and wetting the eye. And so on. My vision is clearer now. With just the right eye done. What more if the the left is done too? But, while I see well the objects from a far, I cant read easily yet. I am to get reading glasses. I struggle doing this update. But I will get the hang of it. I feel the liberation and the freedom of clearer vision which I now enjoy. Thanks to Dr. Nelson Yu and Dr. Ong, anesthesiologist. I should have undergone this much earlier. Thank you Lord for a smooth procedure, and to my Sweety, for the patience and the love.
