I was reading Annabel Crabbs new book the other day and one sentence jumped out: our grandparents would regard our homes as FILTHY. Its so true. Not so long ago, a woman at home with the kids was expected to vacuum the floor every day. There would be lines in the carpet when Dad got home from work. People dusted. With feather dusters. They did this every day. Women polished windows and wiped down skirting boards. Some people had plastic runners down the hall. A clean house was a point of pride. None of my friends keep such clean homes. Weve got jobs and kids and dogs and we do the best we can. But old habits die hard. I mean, just look at the photographs of this house in Sydneys Mosman. Its owned by a couple who have been married for 70 years. Both are over 100. Which is remarkable - but for me, the most remarkable thing is HOW CLEAN IS THIS HOUSE??? Its super clean. Its 1950s clean. Its full-time housewife clean. Im in awe. dailytelegraph.au/newslocal/north-shore/australias-oldest-couple-sell-time-warp-mosman-home-after-76-years/story-fngr8h9d-1227144712544
