I was reading things you wished you had known. What do you do with roosters when they appear in pullet purchases? I do not want roosters right now because of the location of the house we found we need to be aware of noise nuisance by local zoning codes. I really am not looking to go into the meat business my hens will be lifetime ladies who lay for me sto sell organic eggs to local grocers and who have a happy free well tended long life. I believe they are family and not disposable after a year or two of laying like some industrial farms say you should cull. I was thinking of buying the whole flock at almost full grown laying stage from the same place to prevent disease is this wise? Or should I raise younger pullets up to laying stage so I can control their diet and know the have the best healthy start? Sorry it has been worrying me if you canhelp I would appreciate it greatly. I love your website and blogs and bought that book cookbook and chicken raising :)
