I was reading up on Erin Sterns (2x Miss Figure Olympia) dietary - TopicsExpress

I was reading up on Erin Sterns (2x Miss Figure Olympia) dietary habits, and she was talking about her belief in Volumetrics. I was interested so of course I had to do some research! So basically, according to the author, regardless of whether we choose to eat healthy or not we tend to eat roughly the same AMOUNT of food daily regardless of the total calories consumed. The volumetrics diet focuses on getting more mileage on the food you eat. You dont have to eat less overall volume, you just have to fill up on foods that have a lower caloric density vs. foods like junk, cake, candies, and processed foods that are lacking in the water/fiber department, arent very filling, and leave you hungry. Most people cant maintain diets because of the hunger aspect. You dont have to go hungry you just have to make some smart substitutions. Overall, I like the idea behind volumetrics. But I think the author doesnt put enough emphasis on a high protein intake for satiety and to facilitate muscle maintenance and growth. Plant based foods are naturally low in calories and are dense in nutrients, vitamins, and minerals; it would be very wise to use them as the foundation of a healthy diet (right next to protein LOL). =) https://youtube/watch?v=ceeAQX4CkJ8
