I was sipping my morning coffee at Durga, MIT yesterday. The place is generally packed with youngsters - school kids, college students and freshers who just joined the college world. The discussions there are very random. I am a regular there and I prefer sipping my coffee alone and observe the random discussions. The rainy sun makes it a very enjoyable experience. On a regular day, most of the guys talk about girls. Girls talk about guys. Groups discuss movies and travel plans. They discuss Big Boss and Splitsvilla and Game of thrones. They discuss about this cool new hair saloon that recently got opened or a new mall or how reliance is giving away iPhones at very cheap prices. Yesterday they were talking about politics. They had their goatees intact. Spikes were gelled. The sleeves were rolled up to show the tattoo and the curls in the girl’s hair were very prominent but they were discussing politics. There were different groups who were discussing different facts. They weren’t shouting. They were throwing facts for facts. And yes coffee, they were sipping coffee. I loved it. I totally loved it. Pune youngsters are generally stereotyped as being brash, uninformed and dim. But they weren’t. They all had their prejudices, they all had some pre-conceived notions, they even had some half-baked-theories but they had opinions. And they were not ashamed in speaking their heart out. They were with BJP. With Modi. “This nation can’t change” This phrase will die soon. The moment youth starts talking sense and discussing sensible things, the nation starts changing. Im quite hopeful about that. Call it the election fever or anytthing but Im quite hopeful about that. :)
