I was so frustrated when checking Noahs math homework last night. - TopicsExpress

I was so frustrated when checking Noahs math homework last night. If the problem is 6x = 132, he needs to know how to solve for x. Instead, he takes the multiple choice answers and tries each one until he finds the one that works. I know this because he is required to show his work. He says he is allowed to use process of elimination. Ugh -- life is not multiple choice! I told him that if he were in my class, I would mark the answer as wrong - even if he circled the correct answer - because he didnt work the problem correctly. Im more concerned that you know how to get the answer than I am in the answer being correct. Fast forward to today in the homeschool classroom . . . Colby and Addilyn are taking a spelling test. We are studying the au and aw sounds. On their study lists, words 1 thru 5 are spelled with aw and 6 thru 10 are spelled with au. They made the awful mistake of asking me to call the words out IN ORDER for their test. Its quite possible I repeated last nights lecture of WE GO TO SCHOOL TO LEARN ... NOT PASS TESTS.
