I was such a confused little girl. All my fur was falling out in patches, my skin was crusty and sore and I was constantly itching and scratching. With nobody to help me, all I could do was lie by the side of the road and cry. My name is Nippy and I am only 5 months old. It was a man called Khun Jaroon who found me. He is an Animal Rescue Officer with Soi Dog and he noticed me while out in the course of his duties. I desperately needed him to help me. I cried again when he scooped me into his arms. At the Soi Dog shelter, Dr. Eed took over. She told me I had a bad case of demodectic mange and started me immediately on medicine to make it better. Already, I am beginning to scratch less and Dr. Eed says I should make a full recovery. If my story makes you sad, don’t feel too sorry for me for I am one of the lucky ones. My treatment has been funded by the donations of Soi Dog supporters. They have given me a second chance at life. Instead, I would ask you to think about the other dogs – and cats too – that you do not see. There are many of them still out there, sick or injured and all alone.
