I was talking to a person that I just met, about my band. His reply was must be nice to have a band named after you( in a snarky voice) , you really should change the name though. Its too long, no one is gonna remember it. Ive heard those lines many times...and it still is as frustrating as the first time I heard it. I just hate being judged soooo quickly! Im not just some girl who said..hey! Lets start a band and name it after me! No...I worked my butt off, drove to a bunch of bars with my demo, and booked my own shows as a solo act...then literally built the band from scratch adding member after member...booking a 2 piece...then a 3 piece etc.....until I finally had enough shows and enough people to add the word band at the end. No.....my name is NOT TOO LONG! I will not shorten it! Yes....I am a female and the singer...but Im also the guitar player too! Females can in fact be musicians! I know its a hard concept to grasp...but we can play too! And NO! I will not drop everything Im doing....in the middle of the store/ restaurant/ wedding ( yes someone asked me at a wedding) to sing something for you, because you want me to prove to you that I can sing. Why not come to a more appropriate setting...like....I dunno.....a show?! Ill sing my heart out for you then...but Im not gonna just up and sing in the middle of a wedding( when Im there as a guest...not a performer) and have everyone staring at me when they should be staring at the bride and groom.......end of rant!
